Palliative care

Palliative care - this person has a life-limiting illness (or multiple illnesses) or injury that significantly impacts multiple aspects of life (physical, emotional, social, interpersonal, etc.) and these persons may have problems with depression or anxiety, limitations of their activities of daily living (ADL) and a limited social support system. Some types of chronic illnesses that should be considered include cancer, dementia, kidney or liver disease, lung disease (COPD), HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease to name a few. Basically, anyone that a healthcare provider feels needs an extra layer of support can apply for this specialty program.
