Steroid Injections

Steroid Injections

Localized corticosteroid injections can be used to treat the inflammation of small (target) areas of the body. Examples of conditions for which local cortisone injections are used include:

  • inflammation of a bursa (bursitis) in joints like the hip, knee, elbow, or shoulder
  • inflammation of a tendon (tendinitis) in problems like tennis elbow
  • inflammation of a joint (arthritis).

This type of treatment can relieve symptoms for many months or even years.
